Fifty-six couples played the event and all managed to avoid any personal injuries from partners during the day. Apart from all the fun and laughter the echoes across the course serious golf was played.

The best A Grade Nett was won by Jerry and Sally Doffkont [CT] with nett 69.5, runners up were J. Stubbs [BFarm] and Julie Craig [C] with nett 70.

PATRON'S DAY
14 Clubs competed for the 2008 Patron Invitational Golf Day held at Southport Golf Club Sunday 9th November. Together with invited guests 36 players enjoyed a well groomed Golf Course to record very good scores. The winning Club G.C. Burleigh followed up the success of 2006 to once again prove their dominance in this competition. Barry Smith and Daryl Ereaut scored well to win with 46 points from Robina Woods Jim Birch and Ray Gordon with 44 points on a c/b from Ian Pine and John Wheatley of Helensvale also on 44 points.
The visitors section was won by Rod Macleod [GCDGA] and Jim Kaliviotis [Robina Woods] with a massive total of 49 points. This was an extremely good score of which Rod reluctantly admits was most his doing????
A very valiant effort was put in by reps from our visiting District S.E.Q.D.G.A. Jeff Herd and Russell Ives who could only manage 44 points. Third in this section was our Patron Brian Hunter and G.C.D.G.A. President Jon Norton with 42 points.
NTP were awarded to John Wheatley [HV], Ray Gordon [RW], Barry Smith [GCB], Barry Broderwick [CA] and Robert Sayers from our host club Southport. All Players managed a ball in the run down.
G.C.D.G.A. would like to thank all Clubs who donated prizes for the Patron's Day - EMERALD LAKES, ROYAL PINES, COOLANGATTA TWEED, SANCTUARY COVE, LAKELANDS AND COLONIAL were great with their donations and was much appreciated by all.
We also wish to thank Southport Golf Club for again making their course available to Patron Brian Hunter to host his special day.
It was most disappointing several clubs didnot not attend, as this Patron's Invitational Day if FOR YOU.. It is an opportunity for all Clubs to get together at one time and share thoughts regarding Golf on the Coast today. We need feed back from Clubs to ensure the Association remains strong.
See you next year !
